About
“When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
-Leonardo Da Vinci
This is an ever-(r)evolving haven for me to share the thoughts, daydreams, experiences, questions, visions and meanderings that make up my journey. For me, writing is a Sacred act. Always has been. For when I write, I bow down to Truth, and open the depths of my being to the interplay of the Universe.
Please read at your own risk. The pieces, poems, vignettes, and stories that follow may lead to know incredibly too much about me, or they may completely confuse what you thought you knew about me. Identities are constructions of the mind. They rise and fall with perception, with the shifting tides of change. I ask that you bring an open mind and an open heart with you as you journey through this altar of text, for that is what I bring when I compose it.
I welcome your comments, feedback, and constructive criticism. Also, please feel free to share snippets of your writing in the comment-fields, or link me to your page. Just remember that everything is not always as it seems; we are not here to bulldoze each other, but to raise each other up so that we may touch the stars all the easier; and every voice is beautiful.
Khandroma is a Tibetan word that translates to ‘she who traverses the sky’ or ‘she who dances through space.’ It is often directly translated to mean ‘skydancer,’ a type of being that is known in Sanskrit as a Dakini. Skydancers embody Emptiness (in the Buddhist-sense of the word), and are known for traversing the skies with a fierce gracefulness. They are often said to be creatures of the borderlands, the liminal spaces, and walk the line between light and dark. Skydancers usually take submissive, consort-type roles, though they never lose sight of the beginning and end of themselves. More than not, their purpose is to support and protect Buddhas and/or to help their partner to attain Enlightenment, Nirvana, the extinguishing, the blowing-out. The Khandroma Project was founded to create a safe-space forum for the expression of these unique creaturas.
I consider myself to be a skydancer always in search of intensity, seeking to expand my experience of the world. I can be described as an intellectual (with a very full mind), but I crave those experiences that force me into presence and turn off the running dialogue in my head. I’m willing to try practically anything at least once, always willing to be taught or shown something new, and delight in the things that both terrify and intrigue me.
More about me? I am a sensitive, creative, sensual, sexual being who is submissive, intuitive, communicative and enthusiastic. The Sublime captivates me, and I strive to stretch toward it and caress it with every fiber of my being each day that I’m alive. I believe that “Pleasure is a feeling of being taken past our limits, of being overwhelmed.”
Questions? Write to me. I’d love to hear from you.
My Perfect Friends: I look for people with a little light and a story to share. I’m drawn to those who know what they want. I believe in symbiotic relationships. I adore friendships that enrich and nourish equally on both sides. I seek out depth and intensity in my own experiences, and I look for those who do likewise for themselves. I’m drawn to those who challenge me– especially in my thinking, in my beliefs and through the cycling of the tides. Do you have the knowledge, patience, strength and compassion to push me past what I think my boundaries are and open me up to new things? If you’re emotionally mature and have a sense of humor, I’d love for you to strike up a conversation with me! Surprise me. Offer the space for me to surprise you.
Check out my poetry, and don’t forget to leave some comment-luv!
Want to get involved? The Khandroma Project is currently seeking guest poets, both performance and print, and experimental fiction writers. If you’d like to be highlighted on khandroma.com, please send an email introducing yourself and your work to me, Arabella, at ArabellaTruthATkhandromaDOTcom.
Enjoy your travels here.
